On the 1st August 2012, Christchurch based Agrippa Paints Ltd chose Hardware Sales Agencies Ltd  (HSA) to assist them with increasing their brand profile and raising brand awareness of the Agrippa Paints range in the upper North Island area.

Having been in the paint industry for 30 years, Agrippa Paints Ltd have a strong South Island market presence but were virtually an unknown in the North Island markets.  Agrippa Paints Ltd philosophy is to deliver a premium product without the price tag, “value in the can”.   HSA started with 5,000 in sales for the previous year and four hardware stores with product on the shelf.

Working closely with Terry and Maree, the owners of Agrippa Paints Ltd, it soon became apparent we needed to come up with a marketing strategy and plan that included sales tools to help the existing stores to grow and a totally new approach to the targeted new stores.  A behind scenes action plan was put into place that included some key sales target commitments.

Once the product marketing and launch plan was finalised, HSA focused strongly on targeting firstly the big box hardware stores with whom it has very good relationships with. One of the key initial goals was to create a buzz about the product in stores.  It was all about delivering a “must have product” that has huge sales potential, that can get raving fans coming back for more and was very well priced for the value offered.  Appointments were made, history and results shown, samples left, POS material agreed upon.  One by one the stores got behind the products and the immediate results were impressive.  Such was the success of the big box stores Diane targeted the smaller hardware and paint stores, creating similar successes with them.

HSA are proud of the successes it has created for the Agrippa brand. Northern regional sales sky-rocketed by nearly 25 times in the first year alone,  with the products being represented successfully in twenty two stores from the original four.

It’s been a full-on enjoyable ride and  HSA thoroughly enjoyed helping Terry and Maree with their vision to provide a timber stain, that is of fantastic quality, amazing value, and for it to be so well received in the hardware stores and DIY market so early on also demonstrated and highlighted the huge potential.  Creating raving fans was always Agrippa and HSA’s goal and this has been achieved.
